VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

Parent Group Leader – EPEC Programme

 

Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a successful, popular and unique parenting approach. The Programme is a tried and tested method to improving the scale and effectiveness of local parenting programmes through a peer-led approach whereby the programme is delivered and led by local parents for local parents.

 

The EPEC courses are led by local parents (Parent Group Leaders) who will have completed the accredited EPEC training and will receive regular support from the local EPEC Hub. This will involve attending ten sessions  of training and on completion of the course you will receive regular supervision to fulfil the role.

 

As Parent Group Leader you will directly contribute to the success of the parenting programme through achieving involvement levels and goals that could not be accomplished by other services alone.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to help develop new skills, build confidence and improve interpersonal skills.

 

What will I be doing?

The Parent Group Leader will be responsible for facilitating and delivering a Being a Parent course to parents in your community.

When can I  volunteer?

The Parent Group Leader training will require attendance at ten half day virtual sessions over a ten-week period

 

The Being a Parent courses will require you to deliver and facilitate the courses through nine half day sessions

Where will I be volunteering?

The Parent Group Leader training and the Being a Parent courses will all be delivered in your local area.

Who will be there with me?

The staff from the EPEC Hub will be on hand to supervise support you and deal with complexities.

 

The course will delivered by two Parent Group Leaders who will share responsibility for the facilitation of the parenting sessions.

Training resources and support

Full training will be provided to facilitate and deliver the Being a Parent course and further personal development training will be offered which will include:

  • health and safety training
  • safeguarding
  • confidentiality and data protection
