English | The Hair and the Tortoise – Aesop's Fables This half term, we will focus on stories with a moral. Children will innovate and create their own fable with a moral and learn to perform this out loud to their peers. We will also focus on poetry and create our own poem following a given structure. Finally, our non-fiction focus will be persuasion. WE will learn to write in a persuasive manner to encourage our friends to eat more healthy foods. | ||
Maths | Multiplication (recalling times tables x4,x7, x8, x12, Division (chunking and repeated subtraction) Place Value – Addition and Subtraction (measures – rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 Multiplication and division (x8 times tables, grid method, halving numbers, chunking with remainders) | ||
Science | Forces and magnets Your child will compare how things can move on different surfaces. Children will observe how magnets attract or repel each other and identify some magnetic materials. Children will Investigate how objects move on different surfaces. Children will further develop their skills by classifying materials according to magnetic properties. Children will devise an investigation to test the strength of magnets. | ||

History
| The Ribchester Hoard Children will learn all about Roman life in Ribchester. By investigating the Ribchester hoard children gradually piece together what it was like to live in Ribchester as a Roman. Children will investigate artefacts and read written accounts of the period. Children will investigate the themes of invasion, settlement, power and war as well as about the construction of Roman forts and buildings. Reading Enrichment – We will be visited by a Roman | ||
Art or DT | Sculpture and 3D: Abstract shape and space Exploring how shapes and negative spaces can be represented by three dimensional forms. Manipulating a range of materials, children learn ways to join and create free-standing structures inspired by the work of Anthony Caro and Ruth Asawa. | ||
Computing | This term children will be using Scratch as a platform for learning, they will be looking at the different coding blocks, make predictions about what the code will do and test these ideas. They will learn to adapt code for animation by choosing parts to change, which would alter and remix code to create a new version of an animation. Children will be testing and debugging animations to fix problems and improve the code, then reflecting on changes made, explaining what worked well and what could be improved. | ||

RE | Christianity – This term we will be studying the teachings from the Christian holy book, the Bible, and how these affect Christian’s lives. | ||
MFL | Animals Recognise, recall, and spell up to 10 animals in Spanish with their correct indefinite article/determiner.
