Meeting the special educational needs of our pupils

Frenchwood Community Primary is committed to providing an appropriate and high quality education to all the children living in our local area. We believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum, which is accessible to them, and to be fully included in all aspects of school life. As a school, we are committed in our approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and are supported by Lancashire Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

At Frenchwood Community Primary, we make provision for children with SEN within each of the four categories identified in the 2014 SEN Code of Practice. Procedures will follow the graduated response:

For further information on our procedures and practice please read the SEN Policy and our SEN Information Report.

The SEN Coordinator is Mrs Susan Wilkinson . The SEN Governor is Mrs N Desai.

The SEN policy will be reviewed by the Full Governing Body in Summer 2018.

The Parent Support Partnership has been renamed as SENDIAS. These are the people who can help you if you or a member of your family has a Special Educational Need or Disability. They can help you to understand the jargon used, help with completing forms and support you during meetings. It's often helpful to have a third person to help you remember what you wanted to ask, or to give you confidence to ask the things you don't understand.

The FIND Newsletter

The Family Information Directory Network is a really useful source of information, ideas and encouragement for families of children with Special Educational Needs. Their latest newsletter is now out.
